Revenue Generating Readiness Check

 

Having enough revenue resources are very critical to the fabric of survival for any nonprofit. A frayed safety net as indication in a 2014 State of the Nonprofit Sector Survey Results,  which stated the 55% of nonprofits subsist with three months or less cash on hand. The less cash on hand, the greater the risk when revenue is late or unreliable.

 

Therefore it is imperative that nonprofit organization review and assess their readiness and capacity to increase and to diversify its revenue.

Answer the following questions to help determine if your organization is READY!?

  1. Vision: Will your current revenue plan strengthen your vision impact?

  2. Case Statement: Do you have a well written descriptive case statement (and/or specific and defined program needs) that include long-term resource needs, desired outcomes and well developed solicitation materials?

  3. Stakeholders: Will management, staff, volunteers and audiences endorse a new revenue generation strategy plan?

  4. Supporters: Do you have followers who care about your entity’s outlook?

  5. Stewardships: How will you celebrate and engage donors?

  6. Marketing: What tools exist to communicate the organization through print, live and digital media?

  7. Program Plan: Can organization commit modest but consistent effort to revenue generation program related planning?

  8. Fundraising Plan: Do you currently have a fundraising plan?

  9. Financial Plan: Do you have the financial resources needed for tackling a new revenue generation strategy program?

  10. Donor Base: What is the size and shape of your current donor base?

  11. Human Resource: Do you have the human power and time that is needed to ask for money from your identified sources?

  12. Fundraising Expertise: Do you have the fundraising expertise, and/or access to training or other resource people to gain the needed fundraising expertise?

  13. Donor Management: Do you have the physical and human resources needed for tracking your donors, managing the money and thanking donors?

  14. Partnerships: How well connected are you in the local community, county, state and region? How are your strategic alliances?
